Action Packed Weekend
It seems like the weekend was a flash of hiking, socializing and house hunting. I think we spent more time in Mike's car than in our house. It was like we were back in LA again. Ahhh... how I'd missed the sweet scent of exhaust fumes.
First, we met up with one of my roommates from college. She and her husband live in the Bay Area, and it only took us nine months to coordinate a visit with them.
Margarita set up a great itinerary. We met them at Mount Tamalpais State Park and hiked through beautiful Muir Woods. In the middle of the hike, we stopped at the Tourist Club for some refreshing German beer. I love California! Where else can you find cold imported beer on a hiking trail? This is why we pay the premium real estate prices.
Sarah thought the beer was a bit too hoppy and not quite chilled enough for her taste, but the mud in the meadow where we relaxed struck a perfect balance between clay and straw.
Margarita's knee was the perfect place to share the filth.
Here we all are at the end of the trail - well, those of us who managed to stay awake anyway.
After this, we headed to Michael and Margarita's house where we had a delicious barbecue and also managed to spill stuff on every piece of furnishing and exposed carpet fiber that they owned. By the time we got out of there, even their white curtains were streaked with barbecue sauce. I'm pretty sure our visit delayed their child rearing days by at least five years.
That was Saturday. On Sunday, we drove out on a whim to check out some open houses. This time focusing on the San Carlos and Belmont areas. We were encouraged by what we saw. There were actually a couple of houses that we would consider buying - most notably, a three bedroom, two bath house in San Carlos in need of some updating. Of course, in order to afford this house, we're going to have to advance Sarah's sewing skills pronto. I hear the sweatshops don't hire amateurs.
