Niles Canyon
Occasionally, the benefits of watching television can not be denied. After hours in front of the tube, Mike caught a show which highlighted the Afghan restaurants and bakeries in Fremont. This proved to be a life changing event.
Yesterday, on our way to ride a train through Niles Canyon, we stopped in Fremont, home to the nation's largest Afghan American community, and picked up a loaf of naan and chicken kabobs. After a few bites, life in Kabul was sounding pretty darn appealing. The naan (still warm from the oven) had a crisp crust and soft center. The chicken kabobs were juicy and tasty. Accompanying the kabobs was a green sauce that I must have again. I think it had cilantro, lime, and some sort of peppers in it. I'm definitely sure that it was all delicious.

After we did our best to consume all three feet of the bread, we caught an antique diesel train in Sunol. The train ride featured wildflowers and wine tasting. The views were spectacular, the wine was good, blah, blah, blah.... Did I tell you about the naan?
