Birthday Week Begins
To accommodate our schedule (it's always about us), we had Sarah's birthday party yesterday - five days early. Sarah was fine with this arrangement. First, she can't read a calendar. Second, this meant she could have her birthday cake five days sooner!
As a test of her friend's parent's and her father's love of our daughter, I held the festivities right smack in the middle of the World Cup final match. This would probably warrant a caning in most societies. Thankfully, our friends overlooked my faux pas, didn't fake illnesses and all came to Sarah's party - minus canes.
So, Sarah got the party she had been requesting. There was a chocolate cake with a monkey on it (do you know how hard it is to find a cake with a monkey on it?), two pink candles, lots of balloons and, of course, a round of "Happy Birthday". As a bonus, we threw in a piñata and lots of water for splashing. I think this was just the party she had in mind.
The only problem is that I don't think she's done celebrating. Last night when we put her in her crib, she started practicing for the next event. Here's the audio from outside her room.
