3rd of July

Help me out. Pretend I posted this three days ago.

In our neighborhood, the big fireworks show is held one day before Independence Day. That's how independent we are. We celebrate the 4th of July on the 3rd of July, and you can't stop us. The freedom to celebrate when we choose and how we choose is one of the many things that makes our country great.

Asserting our Beastie Boy given right to party, we tossed the kid and some fried chicken in the Chariot and biked over to the festivities.

I wasn't sure how Sarah would react to the event or if she would even manage to stay awake to see the show. Once again, she proved to be a trooper. As the sun set, she admired the sky and pointed out the "orange clouds!" When the fireworks began, there was no fear. She yelled "BOOM!", "POP!" and "WOW!" right along with us.

We had a great time. Next year, you ought to join us for our April Fool's Celebration. We're thinking of having it on May Day.

In our neighborhood, we also celebrated the fourth of July on the third - we went to the Stanford University Track and hung out with a couple hundred families wanting to see a glimpse of sparkles in the sky one day before the fourth. It was fun - though I still don't understand why we don't have the display on the fourth!
