Happy Camper

So, Sarah started summer camp yesterday. Due to a lack of space in every other school, summer camp and sweat shop on the Peninsula, we had to sign her up for TheOtherBible Camp.

TheOtherBible Camp teaches the history behind a religion that neither we nor her best friend, B, belong to. Oh yeah, did I mention that her best friend is also enrolled at this camp? She is, and it's no coincidence. B's mom and I were in the same bind. We had jobs and no child care. Also we knew that if we kept those two little girls together, they would be happier. You know, a happy preschooler means an almost sane mama. Almost. And if they happened to learn something about a new religion, heck any religion, we didn't see how that could be a bad thing.

So yesterday morning, I was bracing for the worst. Transitions are really tough on Sarah. It usually takes her a very long time to warm up to unfamiliar situations or people. Tears, screaming and clinging were what I expected. Instead, I got a little girl who giddily grabbed her new lunch box, skipped out the door and smiled all the way to learn about faraway lands, community and love.

Obviously, my prayers were answered. I think TheOtherBible Camp is already working.
