Groovy

Our new cleaning lady came by this morning:

Me: Hi, CleaningLady. How are you?

CL: Groovy.

After our house was shined and sanitized with only %100 Non-Toxic, Biodegradable, Earth-Friendly products:

Me: Thanks, CleaningLady. It looks great.

CL: Right on.

Me: Well, I guess we'll see you next week.

CL: Peace.

Too funny - loving the kitchen, too.

As a piece of social commentary - you must not be in the Bay Area anymore if your house cleaner speaks English.

I remember that when we moved to Binghamton - it was a change to see white people doing "those" jobs. White females were clearly the lowest socio-economic class.

What does this all mean? I don't have a clue. But I observe and comment...

Rach - You are correct about the differences between this place and the Bay Area. Women are on the lowest economic rung. Most of "those" jobs are handled by immigrants in the Bay Area. Here there are no immigrants! Weird. Mike was shocked to see a young, blond girl building a walkway and stairs - real manual labor.

It's going to take me some time to get used to the sameness of the population. I miss the diversity of California.

In Binghamton, white females flag traffic by the side of construction projects.

But they weren't contractors. Every guy over the age of 18 was a contractor, though, regardess of skills. Or so it seemed at times.
