Sixth Month

Dear Sarah,

I cannot believe it, but you are now six months old! How did this happen? Where did the time go? Slow down! My sweet little newborn is disappearing right before my eyes. I'm in total denial. I try to squeeze you into little outfits that used to fit you just a few weeks ago. When the sleeves are up to your elbows and the buttons are threatening to pop, I give in and dress you in something a bit bigger, but I don't take the too small outfit and put it in the box of clothes to be donated. No. I fold it up neatly and put it back into your drawer. I have a feeling there will be little onesies floating around our house for a long time.

What have you done in the past month? Well, you woke up one day and decided that spoons aren't so bad after all, and you would really like to have some cereal from one. You have not stopped since then. You are truly excelling in the area of consumption. You've eaten everything that we've offered you. You like carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, apple sauce and peaches. You really like rice cereal. You are absolutely crazy about oranges. The only two foods that you haven't been too excited about are peas and pears. When your dad has been watching you, you've also gotten to have vanilla milkshake, french fries, pizza crust, and Taco Bell refried beans. You had the refried beans in the back seat of the car while we were driving. You seemed to really like them, but about five minutes later, you projectile vomited those beans all over yourself and the car seat. Good times. Your dad hasn't given you any Taco Bell since.

Your progress in babbling has also been astounding. You now repeat some sounds back to us. You and your dad have deep conversations that go something like:

him: Blah blah blah blah
you: Blah blah blah blah

Your favorite things have not changed. You still love music, being outside, Lola, and your changing pad. You do have a new game that you play on your changing pad. You take one of your hard plastic toys and pound it against the wall - the louder the better. It's like living on a constructions site. Surprisingly, you haven't damaged the wall yet.

Sweet Sarah, you are still an incredibly happy baby. You smile most of the time and are a joy to be around. So, I won't bring up the fact that you haven't yet rolled over. You don't have to do anything that you don't want to as long as you continue to be such a wonderful girl.

Love,
your mama
