After Christmas

Will I ever catch up on the holiday posts? Yes! Yes, I will. Right?

Either way, here goes an attempt to sum up a few more days...

Mike and I had to work the week after Christmas. So, Nana and Papa Troy packed up Sarah and took her to Portland for a few days. That's right. Took her away to have fun. They rock like that.

What was the first thing that I did when they left? Go for a run? Clean the house? Get a jump start on work? Nope, nope and nope.

I curled up on the couch and napped for 3 hours straight - 3 silent, fantastic hours. Did I mention Nana and Papa Troy rock?

Anyway, Nana wrote up a few notes from their trip with Sarah and I wanted to preserve them here.

Sunday, Dec 27: Bend via Salem to Portland Embassy Suites. Had Thai food 2 blocks from hotel.

Monday, Dec 28: Breakfast at hotel. Went to OMSI on buses. Saw IMAX "Under the Sea", "Bugs: The Rainforest". Toured the submarine. Saw SAMSON, the T-REX discovery. Came back to hotel. Went to eat salmon at McCormick and had dessert (w/chocolate). Came home and went to bed.

Tuesday, Dec 29: Breakfast at hotel. Caught light rail to the zoo, then to Children's Museum. Rode rail and streetcar to NW side of town, walked around shops and had late lunch, 3:00. Saw it start to snow. At about 4:00 walked in snow to bus stop, passed a Trader Joe's. Went in, then continued 4 blocks to catch bus #20 at 21st and Burnside. Waited 45 minutes only to learn buses rerouted due to snow. Walked down a few blocks and caught bus #20. After 40 minutes, we moved 2 blocks - but it was warm and dry. Arrived at hotel at 7:05 (3 hrs later). Had a snack and went swimming. Sarah and I had leftovers. Sleep at 11:00.

Loved Nana's notes, but here's what I really want you to know: 1) Nana and Papa Troy have a lot of energy. 2) There was a major snowstorm IN PORTLAND! 3) SNOWSTORM IN PORTLAND! 4) Papa Troy had to drive over mountain passes in a SNOWSTORM! 5) Both directions. 6) They live in Texas where there are never snowstorms to drive or walk in. 7) LOTS OF SNOW IN PORTLAND! 8) They rock!

Wow. They have a lot more energy than some grandparents that I know.

I miss you and it looks like fun up there. Why haven't you gotten Hal a job in Bend, yet?
