What does it take?
Last week, I was trying to get Sarah excited about watching the coverage of the landing of Phoenix on Mars. I used all of my enthusiasm to explain to her how a robot, A ROBOT!, was going to land on Mars, conduct experiments and take pictures.
She looked at me and said, "Mom, I already know what Mars looks like. It's just red. BORING!"
Geez... kids these days. Nothing impresses them.

There is an individual in New Mexico who would have about the same reaction to Mars.

In this one particular instance - forget Sarah. What did you think of it? Do you design any hardware that is in that Rover? I've been wondering if you're really excited about this, being a JPL kind of a girl and all.

MKR - Sarah has so many resemblances to that individual in New Mexico that I'm certain my hair graying is accelerating daily.
Rach - It is so awesome! I can't believe it all went so smoothly. I didn't have any hardware on that mission, but I'm really happy for all of the people that worked on the project. Mike and I watched the landing coverage, and I swear (he'll deny it) he wiped a tear from his cheek. It was a real dork-fest around here.
